If you are currently completing a PhD at another institute, you may be allowed to transfer to us and complete the research at the University of Huddersfield (UoH) through our Recognition of Prior Learning Procedure. This procedure can also be used by students who have voluntarily withdrawn from PhD studies at the University of Huddersfield and wish to return to recommence their research.
. If there has been a break gap in study between leaving one institute and the your application to the University of Huddersfield, there should not normally be a break in study of more than two years. Likewise, any application submitted by a student has previously withdrawn from the University must be made within two years of their departure.
Successful transfer applicants will normally enrol at the same stage they were at in their previous institution, and returning students will normally enrol to the same stage as the time of their withdrawal. .However, this is not guaranteed, as the point of enrolment is dependent upon your previous progress and any developments in your research area since any break in studies began.
The assessors will complete the following Recognition of prior learning assessment. They will use their academic judgement to make a recommendation to their School’s Director of Graduate Education (or nominee) on what they believe is an appropriate entry point into the programme. You will be notified of the outcome of your assessment, and any offer of study, by email.
