Parking at the University of Huddersfield

Welcome to the University of Huddersfield. If you’re visiting our campus, this page explains where you can park, when public parking is available, how much it costs, how to pay, and what your alternatives are if University car parks are full.

If you are a member of staff, please visit the Staff Car Parking Portal for information about permits and visitor bays.

During weekdays before 6:00 pm, our University car parks are reserved for staff and permit holders only (except Southgate).

Public parking is available:

  • Monday to Friday: 6:00 pm – 6:00 am

  • Southgate: Our Southgate car park is open to the public at all times

Good to know: All University car parks are open on Public Holidays and parking is free of charge.

How to pay for your parking

All our University car parks are cashless, and use the RingGo app. You can follow the below steps to pay for your parking.

  • Download the RingGo app (Apple Store or Google Play)
  • Look for the RingGo code: each car park has signs showing its RingGo code
  • Choose your tariff, and pay via the app

Blue Badge holders may use designated bays but must still pay the standard tariffs via the app.

If our University car parks are full, there are many other car parks available in Huddersfield town centre, all within 5–15 minutes’ walk of campus.

These car parks are not managed by the University. Please check charges, opening times, and parking conditions directly with the relevant operator.
