What is ELCAS - Enhanced Learning Credits? 

The MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme gives current and former armed forces members access to financial support to fund higher level (level 3 or above) study. The University of Huddersfield is an ELCAS (Enhanced Learning Credit Scheme) approved learning provider, meaning you can access funding for our ELCAS approved courses.

  • Careers: The Careers and Employability Service gives you access to one-to-one guidance, employer events and resources to support you in your career development during your studies. Plus, our “Here for Life” offer means you can access support on a lifelong basis. 
  • Wellbeing: Our Wellbeing Service provides one-to-one advisor appointments, counselling, workshops, support groups and much more, to help ensure that you enjoy and get the most of your time at the University. 
  • Academic skills: Get online or face to face support from our Academic Skills Support team, with key academic skills including essay writing, referencing and exam preparation, to support your return to education.  
  • Disability: Our Disability Services Team will work with you to provide tailored support to help ensure that your disability or condition does not impact upon your studies and academic achievements. 
  • Students’ Union: Led by the students for the students, the Students’ Union can provide independent advice and support with a range of issues from housing and finance to mental and sexual health.

How to apply for ELCAS funding 

You can apply for ELCAS funding directly through the ELCAS website.  

When completing your ELCAS claim form, please ensure that you reference the University and our provider code: ‘University of Huddersfield 1886’. 

Once your application has been approved, you'll receive a statement from ELCAS. Please email this to our Student Finance Team at sfo@hud.ac.uk.
