What can you do with a degree in Film?

A Film degree from the University of Huddersfield will equip you with the skills needed for careers in film production, directing, and screenwriting. Opportunities exist in various aspects of the film industry, including editing, cinematography and production design.

You may also find roles in film criticism, distribution and festival programming, where your understanding of film theory and history is essential. Ben Young

Senior Lecturer in Film Production

Ben Young is a film producer, screenwriter, and director whose work has premiered across major film festivals, galleries, cinemas, and streamers worldwide. He is a member of EAVE and the Venice Biennale College.

Dr Gareth Hudson

Senior Lecturer

Gareth Hudson is a visual artist and Lecturer in Moving Image. His work explores human spirituality through film, installation, and sound. He has exhibited internationally and worked with the BBC, BFI, and MTV.

Dr Richard Mulhearn

Subject Area Leader for Film and the Visual Arts

Dr Richard Mulhearn is a photographer and educator based in West Yorkshire, UK. From 2015 to 2022, Richard led the BA (Hons) Photography course at the University of Huddersfield. He is currently the Subject Area Lead for Film and Visual Arts.
