Absence - Reporting Procedures
Trainees must follow strict absence procedures and treat placement with the same professionalism as workplace attendance.
On the first day of absence, trainees must:
- Follow the school's absence policy.
- Email their Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) and the University placement team.
- Persistent absence may require making up days or could risk termination of the placement.
- Medical evidence may be required for longer absences.
- If you are due to teach, send lesson plans and resources to the school by 8am.
Acceptable reasons for absence:
- Illness
- Urgent compassionate reasons (e.g., bereavement, family emergency)
- Teaching job interviews (not during timetabled teaching)
- Certain religious observances
